A day in Budapest

On our recent trip to Budapest, after a week of living off hot dogs and Burger King, we decided to treat ourselves to a relaxing coffee at the famous Gerbeaud coffee house. We'd been once before, in the Winter, and sat inside, in the incredibly decorated and decadent cafĂ©. This time, it was summer, and we took the chance to sit outside.
We people watched, enjoyed a gorgeous strawberry and white chocolate mousse cake, and some delicious coffee. Reasonably priced, but a tourist essential, the Gerbeaud coffee house can be found in Vorosmarty Ter, in central Budapest - hard to miss when you come out of the metro, or enter the square.

We then took a little walk to the Danube, which is about 200m away, and found a lovely little walled park (I say park...a few stone walls and some grass, but still beautiful). Despite being in the centre of a busy city, it felt so calm and peaceful.
The evening was given over to a quiet supper, and watching Little Britain, as we were still recovering slightly from a week at Sziget.
A perfect day in one of my favourite cities.
