On our recent trip to Budapest, after a week of living off hot dogs and Burger King, we decided to treat ourselves to a relaxing coffee at the famous Gerbeaud coffee house. We'd been once before, in the Winter, and sat inside, in the incredibly decorated and decadent café. This time, it was summer, and we took the chance to sit outside.
We people watched, enjoyed a gorgeous strawberry and white chocolate mousse cake, and some delicious coffee. Reasonably priced, but a tourist essential, the Gerbeaud coffee house can be found in Vorosmarty Ter, in central Budapest - hard to miss when you come out of the metro, or enter the square.
We then took a little walk to the Danube, which is about 200m away, and found a lovely little walled park (I say park...a few stone walls and some grass, but still beautiful). Despite being in the centre of a busy city, it felt so calm and peaceful.
The evening was given over to a quiet supper, and watching Little Britain, as we were still recovering slightly from a week at Sziget.
A perfect day in one of my favourite cities.
